COVID-19 Measures
Measures The Phoenix Montessori School is taking to keep our children, staff, and families safe:
- Screening of children and staff is completed prior to entering the school:
- All children have their temperatures taken by before entering the school. Parents also confirm the screening questions at the drive-by drop off to administration.
- Staff take their temperature before leaving for school and again upon entry into the school, as well as complete the Toronto Public Health screening form.
- All classrooms have been divided into separate cohorts including adults. Each cohort uses separate entrances to access their cohorted classroom
- Public Health signage is up at all screening areas, the main door, all cohort doors, the staff room and the office.
- Social distance markers are outside to ensure 2 m between adults waiting at pickup.
- All adults must wear a mask when dropping off or picking up their child.
- All staff in contact with the children wear a medical mask, shield and gloves while in proximity to the children
- All elementary children (grades 1-6) wear masks indoors.
- Regular handwashing protocols have been intensified.
- Disinfection of all classroom materials as used by children before being put back or replaced on shelves.
- We have removed or adjusted all materials that cannot be sanitized properly.
- Each cohort’s room, tables, chairs, bathrooms are disinfected with the electro-static sprayer and Bioesque disinfectant twice a day.
- Hand sanitizer is available at all entrances to the school.
- Daily touchpoint disinfecting occurs at least 5 times per day by one designated staff member. Example: railings, light switches, cubbies, handles, doors etc.
- Outdoor play equipment is disinfected in-between each cohort's recess by the electro-static sprayer and Bioesque disinfectant.
- Management of cases and outbreaks of COVID-19 is done by following the guidance of Toronto Public Health (TPH) and the provincial Ministry of Health.
The safety of our community is our number one priority. We are following all Toronto Public Health and Government guidelines, protocols and procedures as well as implementing our own extra policies and procedures for further protection.
Please know even though we cannot guarantee an outbreak will not occur, we are doing everything in our power to prevent one while creating a safe, positive and encouraging environment for all children, parents and staff.
Stay safe and well,
The Phoenix Montessori Administration.
